Announcement: Summer School on Introduction to the geometry of jet spaces and nonlinear differential equations

We would like to announce Summer School on Introduction to the geometry of jet spaces and nonlinear differential equations which will be held from June 29th to July 6th. The host town Wisła is in the area of Beskyd Mountains close to the border with Slovakia and Czech Republic. Being close to the nature gives a great opportunity to get a nice rest during the free time. 50 mountain paths of different level, rock climbing, bicycle tracks, horse riding, water park, 20 types of Jacuzzi, saunas, swimming pool, cultural events and field trip are waiting for you.

This meeting is mostly intended for Ph. D. students and postdocs working on Geometry Theory of PDEs and will provide a venue for meeting students with the similar research interests.
Lecturers by Joseph Krasil’shchik (Silesian University in Opava and Independent University of Moscow) and Alexander Verbovetsky (Independent University of Moscow)

0. Introduction: smooth manifolds, vector bundles, distributions.1. Jets of bundles. Nonlinear differential operators.

2. The Cartan distribution.

3. Geometry of the Cartan distribution. Lie transformations. Contact transformations.

4. Lie–Bäcklund Theorem.

5. Nonlinear differential equations. Prolongations. Infinite jets.

6. Evolutionary derivations and higher symmetries.

7. Examples of computation.

8. Applications: integrability of ODEs in quadratures and Lie-Bianchi Theorem.

9. Applications: invariant solutions and solitons.

We expect that some support will be available to fund students and other young researchers, specially underrepresented students.
